Quick Write Blog – Camp Reflection (Draft)

This is my first draft. I only had around fifteen minutes, so I just wrote down what came to mind.

I referenced some of the information from my note taking during Camp. This was used for some of my responses.

How was your camp experience? What was the highlight? The lowlight? What do you remember from the talks? What has God been saying to you recently? What are you going to do about it? How’s life these days? How can I pray for you? 15.9.16

This year, I had the motivation to take notes and listen to the speaker. In this year’s message of being connected, the speaker, Dewey, took on a different approach from other speakers in the past years. This was the only year where I did not bring my Bible, yet it was the only year where a speaker told us to use the Bible. Through these few days, I found the message quite concise, yet repetitive throughout the four sessions that we had.

I had a few takeaways from the speaker. The story of Elijah and Baal was one story that gave me an impression of faith in God. Elijah’s faith overwhelmed and showed that God did answer his prayers. Another takeaway was the role of Jesus in our lives. Without Jesus, we cannot connect to God. He is our cornerstone; Our foundation of faith relies on believing in Jesus.

There were a few questions that also struck my mind in this camp that I reflected for long periods of time. One of the questions, stated by Mr. Klumpp, gave me an idea of how this school is functioned. Is ICS a spiritual school, or a school with a spiritual component in it? This could be argued both ways.

Teacher comment:

Several excellent thoughts about camp messages. I’m glad you took notes. That really helps me stay awake and remember what I’ve heard. So if Jesus is the only way to connect with God, have you made this connection personally, or is it just something to think about for you?
