Quick Write Blog – Camp Reflection

How was your camp experience? What was the highlight? The lowlight? What do you remember from the talks? What has God been saying to you recently? What are you going to do about it? How’s life these days? How can I pray for you? 15.9.16

This year, I had the motivation to take notes and listen to the speaker. In this year’s message of being connected, the speaker, Dewey, took on a different approach from other speakers in the past years. This was the only year where I did not bring my Bible, yet it was the only year where a speaker told us to use the Bible. Through these few days, I found the message quite concise, yet repetitive throughout the four sessions that we had.

I had a few takeaways from the speaker. The story of Elijah and Baal was one story that gave me an impression of faith in God. Elijah’s faith overwhelmed and showed that God did answer his prayers. Another takeaway was the role of Jesus in our lives. Without Jesus, we cannot connect to God. He is our cornerstone; Our foundation of faith relies on believing in Jesus.

There were a few questions that also struck my mind in this camp that I reflected for long periods of time. One of the questions, stated by Mr. Klumpp, gave me an idea of how this school is functioned. Is ICS a spiritual school, or a school with a spiritual component in it? This could be argued both ways.

I personally think that ICS’s image is a Spiritual School. In reality, we are not a Spiritual school, but a school with a Spiritual component in it. We do not force others to believe in Christ, but we try to give them a perspective by taking mandatory Bible classes, although some classes aren’t actually focusing on the Bible. If ICS wants to become a Spiritual school, we need to act like one, and become one through everyone’s actions.

Another thought that came to mind was the relationship I had with Jesus. God is personal, so my relationship with God does not affect others’ relationships with God. To be honest, I believe in Jesus, but my faith is not strong yet. I want to learn more about God through Jesus and our personal relationships. I am connecting with Jesus personally, but it is just something I should think about strengthening.relationshipwithjesuschrist-element3
